Drawing and Painting Course
The drawing and painting course is ideal for those who would like to study the basic techniques of both arts. Our emphasis is on how drawing and painting work parallel together when creating a work of art. Our program provides students with a complete overview: beginning with drawing and finishing with painting.
During drawing classes, students practice using charcoal and pencil while drawing from plaster casts and picture references. The course gives a thorough review of the following topics:
Measuring proportions in order to draw precisely from a variety of subjects (still life, portraits, etc.).
Shadowing techniques in order to create form, and understanding perspective, drawing architectural elements.
During painting classes, students paint from still lifes and picture references. Classes will introduce the following painting topics:
Color and tonal value relationships, practicing color mixing.
Review the painting techniques, such as glazing, "Alla Prima," and color blocking.
The drawing materials are included in the course price. The painting materials are of the students expense. The course is open to everyone, regardless of the level.
The classes take place from Monday to Friday. Semi-Intensive courses are from 9:00am - 1:00pm. Intensive courses are from 10:00am - 1:00pm and 2:00pm - 5:00pm.
