Our studio offers a 3-month long Academic Art Program to those who would like to study the basic techniques of Painting and Drawing. For centuries, Florentine artists have considered drawing the most important skill to learn. We continue this tradition in this course, by beginning with drawing and gradually moving to painting techniques.
Starting from the systems of measurement and proportions, from the techniques of chiaroscuro and the theory of shadows, to arrive at the drawings of complex subjects such as drawing of portraits and the human body. Followed by an in-depth study of painting, including: color theory, preparation of mediums for painting, and preparation of canvases and wood panels. The principle painting mediums are oil and watercolor.
In our school we paint from photographic references, as well as still life, and en plein air painting. The program is established for each student individually, it depends on the initial level at which the student enrolls.
Once registered, the student will receive the program, with the list of materials that we will use. Pencils, erasers and drawing papers are provided by the studio, while all other materials are at the student's expense. The course is open to everyone. Classes are offered in English and Italian.
The classes take place from Monday to Friday, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
